The playwright placed an emphasis on stereotyping as social commentary, critiquing perception of what appears on the outside against what lies within. The costumes reflected those close-minded views. The stereotype achieved balance between conflict within the play and the perception of these characters in reality. From a New York lesbian director (cue all black) to the small Hispanic Goth playwright (think Edward Scissor Hands meets The Matrix), to a pageant full of campy characters and three Wiseman dressed as flaming queens: this play was a mash-up of Republican paranoia and Pride parade. New York Premiere, new work.
